Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is required after the structure is constructed or manufactured. NDT is a wide group of proven analysis techniques used in science, engineering and technology industry to evaluate the properties of a building material, component or system without damaging the structure or sample. It is often used in product failure analysis, quality testing and inspection inside or outside the testing laboratory. NDT methods are fast, reliable and often standardized techniques used in offline batch inspection, in-line during manufacturing or on-site inspection without disassembly. The main advantage of NDT is that the original sample can be used even after testing.

Rebound Hammer Test
Rebound Hammer Test
Rebound Hammer Test is conducted to find out the compressive strength of concrete by using rebound hammer. The rebound of an elastic mass depends upon the hardness of the surface when it strikes. When the plunger of rebound hammer test is pressed against the surface of the concrete, the mass rebounds and the extent of such a rebound depends upon the surface hardness of the concrete.

Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) Test assesses material structure integrity through ultrasonic pulse analysis. Where the velocity of ultrasonic pulses is measured and identification of cracks, voids, strength of concrete and elasticity are checked to determine the areas which can provide the basis for recognizing the defects. The pulse velocity in a material depends on its density and its elastic properties, which in turn are related to the quality and the compressive strength of the concrete.

Low Strain Pile Integrity Test, also known as Pile Integrity Test (PIT) is a non-destructive testing method for integrity assessments of concrete piles (augured cast-in-place piles, drilled shafts or driven piles). If major defects exist, test results may be interpreted to estimate the magnitude and location of defect. Because of the simplicity, speed of execution and relatively low cost, PIT may be performed on 100% of the piles on a given job site. The methodology involves a small impact by hand-held hammer on the pile top that generates a compressive stress wave in the pile. The stress wave propagates down the pile shaft and is reflected when it encounters either the toe or a non-uniformity of the shaft. These reflections cause a change in the acceleration signal measured on the pile top, which is picked up and processed by the Pile Integrity Tester (PIT) equipment and interpreted using PIT-Software.

Broken samples from the cores can be used to determine the pH Value, Chloride Content, Ratio Test and Chemical Analysis. These tests on cores and core samples will also provide information that can be used to assess the state of corrosion of reinforcing steel.

Plate or Pile Load (PLT) tests are used to measure the way in which a pile behaves under an applied load. The load is applied at a low strain and pile displacement is measured. Due to the slower and more precise process, the load tests are considered to provide the most accurate results when measuring pile load carrying capacities and settlement/uplift of the pile.
